I heard about this radio address from Ronald Reagan on talk radio this morning and found it on YouTube. If you are concerned about the current issue on national healthcare (and you SHOULD be), then you need to listen to this message in its entirety. Listen, this is not a new issue. Those with a bent towards socialism and left-wing Democrats have been pushing this national healthcare agenda for years. They want big government. They want more taxes. And they want control. And with the most liberal President we’ve ever had now in office and with Democrats controlling both houses of Congress, they are prime to strike and seal the deal.
Americans…don’t let this happen! Speak out about this issue. I’m convinced that Americans are NOT in favor of socialized medicine. This is not a health issurance initiative people. It’s governement controlling whether or not you have the right to receive the healthcare that you deserve.

I heard this speech put to music on the Glen Beck program. It was amazing. They did a fanastic job. I think a real musician did it and Beck just played it on his show, but it was amazing. I’m looking all over the web trying to find a copy of the song. Reagan’s words and delivery are great to begin with, but with the music, it really drives the message home.

A friend sent me this link to tout Reagen’s conservative values.
Ronald Reagan exploded the deficit, signed into law the largest tax increase on the middle class in American history, shrank the wealth held by the middle class and increased the size of government. I do not support those values.
Fundamentally, I believe in strong capitalism with a strong social safety net. I don’t believe a good social safety net leads to Socialism or communism, and I don’t believe there is any example of it in history. No safety net, on the other hand, has lead to Socialism, Communism and dictators. If Cuba would have had government regulations, universal education and a social safety net, it would probably be our 51 state today.

Sorry, Mike. Gonna need to see some unbiased sources for your information about Reagan. As I remember it, Reagan had a Democratic congress to fight with. Middle class taxes did NOT in fact go up under Reagan. They went up under a DEMOCRATICALLY controlled Congress in 1986. Reagan did not shrink the wealth of the middle class nor did he increase the size of government. Don’t you remember the government shut downs as the Republican President fought with the Democratic Congress over budget cuts and tax increases?
I’m actually pretty sick of listening to everyone blame a president for Congressional responsibilities. Take a freaking government class, WORLD!
